Professional cyclist Piotr Brozyna takes overall lead at the Tour of Mauritius 2024 (UCI 2.2)

The Felt Felbermayr team is unstoppable in Mauritius: Piotr Brozyna impressively takes the day's victory on the 2nd stage of the Tour of Mauritius 2024 (UCI 2.2) and at the same time the overall leader's jersey. The Wels-based professional cyclist wins the 138.3-kilometer section from Bambous to Bois Cheri with a lead of 1:57 minutes over his closest rival Alexandre Mayer (Team Mauritius). The 29-year-old made the decisive attack on the difficult climb 10 kilometers from the finish; no one could even come close to keeping up with the Pole. With this impressive day's victory, he also takes the lead in the overall standings, with Piotr Brozyna already 2:30 minutes ahead of the second-placed rider. "I had really good legs today. So it was clear that I would attack on the long climb just before the end. I'm really happy about my first win of the season," said Piotr Brozyna at the finish. After yesterday's stage win by Patryk Stosz, this is already the second daily victory for the Wels cyclists in Africa.

The previous leader of the U23 ranking, Jakob Purtscheller, crashed today, but can continue the tour. "On the final stage tomorrow over 116 kilometers, we will do everything we can to defend the leader's jersey and bring it to Wels," emphasizes racing director Paul Renger, who is looking after the team in Mauritius.
